Singer/songwriter Andrew Gold died of a heart attack on Friday in Los Angeles. He was best known for hits “Lonely Boy,” which you might remember from Boogie Nights, and “Thank You For Being A Friend,” which you definitely remember from The Golden Girls. He worked frequently with Linda Rondstadt and also performed in the bands Bryndle and Wax. Gold was 59.

X-Men: First Class

110603_X Men-First ClassI love the fact that I live in an era where graphic artists have the technological tools to take the comic books I read as a child and turn into them into  spectacularly visual movies like X-Men: First Class. This is a smart, stylish,  classy  prequel to the other three X-Men movies that we've already seen over time with more fun, fireworks, and action, and as much  good acting as is possible. You’ll recognize a lot of  actors from many other works!  Not quit a genre classic like  “The Dark Knight” or “Spiderman2”,  but as good and powerful as  Star Trek 11 in bringing rejuvenation back into  the series with  strong youthful performances by the  characters.  A solid 8 out of 10 -  far, far better than Hangover2 or Kung Fu Panda2 for your entertainment dollars!
