Jackie Chan’s 100th movie: 1911

Jackie Chan in 2011
Jackie Chan’s 100th movie in America opening soon. 1911 is about the Chinese Revolution of 1911, also called the Xinhua Revolution. This was the revolution that overthrew the last emperor of China and turned china from an empire into a republic. The opening also coincides with the 100th anniversary of the Xinhua Revolution, which started on October 10, 1911. Looks damn good!

Killer Elite

111001 Killer Elite

Killer Elite plays like a  John LaCarre novel put in motion; while there’s action, romance, and intrigue it’s the execution of the plot  through  concise dialog detailing these true story events that pulls you in. I found it far better than  many critics are leading you to believe.  An easy 7 out of 10 with violence and nudity because you won’t figure out the instigator of it until very late  in the story when you are told. Not for my children ages 15 or under and yet Mom & Dad both will enjoy this  movie.

Terra Nova…

… absolutely unforgettable for its visual appeal yet while also with absolutely forgettable characters yielding some boring ass dialogue to top it all off. Won’t last long except for the fact I’ll wager Fox sunk a huge chunk a cash in it.

Dear Emmy,

NASA Television 2009 Philo T. Farnsworth Prime...

Image by nasa hq photo via Flickr

IMO you failed me again. Others think so too. Definitely a  tad pathetic when your “In Memoriam” section for stars gone is the best, except it really wasn’t (explained here), a Taxi star? Inexcusable for you, Oscar or anyone  not to get that right if you’re going to do it.  I must admit though  Lunch did better than I expected. Pretty sure I won’t tune you in next time at all – best use of  my time? Wait it out  and read your “winners” list with coffee the morning after.

Drive

110917 Drive

Drive feels like a masterpiece crime thriller thrill ride that definitely has brutal bloody violence, foul language and some nudity in it; the mood is dark, and the story -  unnervingly  exciting – a smart and stylish work if you can tolerate violence - not  for any of my children 17 or under; Dad would like it, Mom wouldn’t finish watching it, I’m sure, and I enjoyed it -  a 9 out of 10.
