Huge, uber cool bots brought to life and partnering with humans against the bad guys - think: additional bots gone awry – sounds so Sci Fi – well, it is! The visual impact of the transmogrifications and the humanity of the bots brought to life evoke some surprise emotional feeling though the story is essentially weak and lost in the effects as the visual sensory overload could’ve been traded for better, upgraded dialog and plot. You’ll still sigh when Sam watches “B’s” (his nickname for Bumblebee) eminent demise, but still, I can only muster a 5 out of 10 rating for this installment of the series as much as I did like it - story and dialog were lacking. If you’re going see it though it’s a must see on the big screen – not for dinky screens! Almost 3 hours long. Safe to watch with parents and grandparents, who probably won’t like it, and OK for children 13 and over.

Bad Teacher…
…wasn’t good. Not for lacking heavy doses of Cameron Diaz’s magnetic, charismatic personality – she was playfully, sensually delightful – but for the fact none of the other actors brought any anything substantial to the classroom in this comedy where laughs are just a tad too far apart; it seemed like the supporting cast was just in it for the box office payday. Bad Teacher could’ve been so much better with more actor effort and a focus on script writing humor in opportunities that were not capitalized upon. This movie is not for watching with you folks nor your kids either, unless you routinely express explicit sexual techniques, outlets, and frustrations with them. Pass on this one and see “Bridesmaids” instead if you’re out for a really funny movie, because “Bad Teacher” has too few laughs and falls short of the mark; I can’t even give it a 4 out of 10.

Super 8…
… is the Sci-Fi, Action, Alien, Thriller, sleeper of the summer I recommend you should see. Think ET, Goonies, and Green Mile all rolled into one and a love story interlaced with really well acted parts by all. A solid 8 out of 10 rating and good for the entire family over age 10 or 11.

On Old Westerns
I love a good Western. This post is a trip down memory lane with the old Western heroes! Click here to revisit many of those old Western memories on the owner’s site who created the presentation. Remember those Saturday afternoon matinees that always had a Western movie along with cartoons, shorts, and a serial? Ever wonder just who all those minor characters were who populated western after western with few lines and a yet familiar face? Well, that link above has pictures and names, so after 50 or so years, say "Howdy" to some of those general store, saloon keeper, blacksmith mini-heroes of western days gone bye.

X-Men: First Class
I love the fact that I live in an era where graphic artists have the technological tools to take the comic books I read as a child and turn into them into spectacularly visual movies like X-Men: First Class. This is a smart, stylish, classy prequel to the other three X-Men movies that we've already seen over time with more fun, fireworks, and action, and as much good acting as is possible. You’ll recognize a lot of actors from many other works! Not quit a genre classic like “The Dark Knight” or “Spiderman2”, but as good and powerful as Star Trek 11 in bringing rejuvenation back into the series with strong youthful performances by the characters. A solid 8 out of 10 - far, far better than Hangover2 or Kung Fu Panda2 for your entertainment dollars!
