Make no mistake; Leonard DiCaprio is superb in this Eastwood flick even without the help of the great makeup support that he got playing J Edgar Hoover as this movie spans Hoover’s life from the 1920’s through the Nixon administration - 8 president’s went in & out of office in Hoover’s tenure according to the film. Not many movies pull off this decades of time passage so well, with J Edgar’s entertainment value attributable to DiCaprio’s terrific acting talent and the things presented here we didn’t know about Hoover. I give this a solid 8 out of 10 for the fact I learned more about things Hoover did than I ever did from history class in High School and the acting is solid. OK to watch with Mom & Dad, but not for my kids until they were 12 or 13 or so due to some violence and some relationship “concerns” or issues that are exposed in the movie that a conservative preteen might not be ready for.
