You need be a true fan of the series to see another installment at midnight, yes, and this one’s possibly the best of the Pirate’s series, ye land lubbers. On Stranger Tides delivers more old-fashioned Swashbuckling action than computer aided tom foolery, but still a lot of action is hidden in the fog of the night, and for me it just wasn’t quite “strange” enough. Clever comedy, action, and adventure abound however! It surprised this writer that Captain Jack’s reunion with Blackbeard was so friendly. I imagined there should’ve been a lot more acerbic antagonism between the two to really make this one over the top. Also, to me it really shows the director Marshall has never made an action film before. Still searching for the Black Pearl, Sparrow is looking for a new gig, what with Will’s (Bloom) and Elizabeth's (Knightly) story line seemingly played out. Good family entertainment for all ages still, On Strange Tides will clean up the box Office this weekend, for sure.
