A Fandango poll trending where folks indicate they’ll seek their summer respite this year is of interest.
FYI the only reason I think Hangover2 already has so many ticket sales locked up for the weekend box office is there’s nothing great to compete against it. How can it not kill in sales when there’s nothing else to go up against it besides a cartoon? Sad state of affairs for such piss poor release scheduling and timing except I feel the release gawds are picking our pockets forcing us at times into lousy choices. Would you choose “Hangerover2” over “Pirates; On Strange Tides” or something like “The King’s Speech”? Bet not! What’s happened to the release date of “The Conspirator”, originally advertised and set to open a month ago for the anniversary of the start of the Civil War?
Critics overall rated Hangover2 a pissy 44 out of 100 while Kung Fu Panda2 got an average 67 critic rating (higher than “Pirates” average 45 rating). Critic's ratings aren’t everything but we need to use some metric besides brand loyalty or word of mouth to decide where to spend our entertainment buck for the best bang. It sucks that the scheduled offerings over this holiday weekend are so lame - a cartoon or a stupid farce drinking sequel?
